Do I have to only focus on current challenges or can I anticipate a challenge.

You may focus on a current challenge or with a goal or dream in mind you can anticipate a challenge in your mind and do the exercise.  This is actually a very powerful way to move forward in the right direction for yourself.  To prepare and anticipate challenges can often allow you to bypass them completely and give you more ease.
