Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA)- Hemp oil is a rich source of gamma-linolenic acid. Hemp is one of the only plants actually to contain GLA so that the body does not have to rely on converting it as it does with other oils.
Basically, LA is enzymatically converted to GLA in the body. The process converting linoleic acid into GLA is too slow in some individuals thus leading to GLA deficiency.
Compromised conversion of LA into GLA has been found in certain situations including:
Women suffering from PMS and menopause

GLA is a super Omega-6 that some studies have shown may help reduce heart disease, treat problem skin conditions, prevent inflammation-related conditions such as Alzheimer's, arthritis and asthma.
